CHORAL WORKSHOPS For Voiceworks Members and 'Friends of Voiceworks' who sing regularly in a choir, or have regular voice tuition - these workshops are challenging and require vocal confidence.
SATURDAY JANUARY 27th 2024 'Prepared workshop' (learn at home)
Drink to Me Only Sweet Kate Surprise Piece
This workshop is challenging - work is to be done at home before the session.
What is a Choral Workshop? These events occur every 2 months and involve a group of experienced singers coming together and working on a piece of choral music, like a cantata, or a madrigal. There is no performance of the piece, just the satisfaction of of learning and singing the piece in a no pressure, fun, friendly environment. I record it at the end of the day and send the recording by email to all involved.
Do I need experience? Yes; you also need a good musical ear in order to learn your chosen part (I'll send these as files) and to follow a simple score. You will also receive direction on the day.
What part do I sing? As we are a 'non-traditional' mixed choir, anything goes! We usually have ladies singing tenor and bass parts of a traditional piece as they suit the lower female voice. Male voices often suit the alto part as well as tenor and bass. I will allocate you a part based on whether you have a low or high pitched voice.
Then what? Numbers are limited to 5 or 6 per part. There are usually 20-25 singers at these events.
Where? Venue to be given, by Haley, to those on the list! In Eastbourne.
When? The day starts at 11am. There is a break at 1pm We finish at 3.30pm On the dot!
